Fraction Essentials

In my consulting work, I have seen the looks in the eyes of participants when I ask a question involving fractions. They will actually say, "I'm out! I never understood fractions." But then, after some time exploring fractions in concrete, pictorial, and abstract ways those same participants tell me, "If I had learned fractions this way in the first place, I wouldn't feel the way I do now about math." Join me in this workshop as we explore this various representations in the context of all the fraction content standards of grades 1-5 as well as some powerful daily routines that will help your students develop fraction number sense.

Here's what you can expect from my two-hour on-demand workshop:

  • Exploration of the fraction conceptual understandings for all fraction standards in grades 1-5 using concrete, pictorial, and abstract representations
  • Video on powerful Daily Routines that help build fraction number sense
  • An access code to a 3 -month classroom membership at https://www.brainingcamp.com/ and their amazing suite of online manipulatives including my favorite manipulative for fractions - Cuisenaire rods!

What People Are Saying:

Ann Elise Record’s professional development workshops have transformed everything about how I teach math! She taught me how to assess students, teach in a way that all students understand numbers, make growth, and develop a true love for math. I was fearful to put it all into practice, but Ann Elise was always there to share her knowledge, ideas, resources, and encouragement. This year was a huge success! Now I only have a love relationship with math and so do all my students thanks to Ann Elise Record!
